Brilliance in black & white for you

‘Archivalt’ alkaline stop bath

After long trials this unique stop bath is ready for despatch. This means you can have an alkaline processing environment right through from develop to fix if you also use Archivix fixer. There are significant advantages. For a start, it’s odourless. No more acetic acid pong! No more plunging a tender film from alkali to acid. For users who have discovered the advantages of tanning/staining film developers like Exactol or PMK, the beneficial stain is maximised and the need for a post-fix bath in used developer before washing is eliminated to save you time and hassle. For both films and prints, the need for a wash-aid for archival standards of washing is removed, and wash times required are far shorter than with acid stop and fix saving you both time and water. Toning qualities of prints are often enhanced too. The solution isn’t cheap because of its complex components, but it lasts and lasts and will handle many hundreds of prints and dozens and dozens of films. It is supplied as packs to make a stock solution diluted 1:3 for use as a working solution. Pack to make 2.5 litres enough for at least 250 prints, 60 films £12 inc. p&p UK (Europe £13, USA/Canada £14, Rest of World £15). Pack for 10 litres £22.50 inc. p&p UK (Europe £23.50, USA/Canada £24.50, Rest of World £25.50).
