Many digital workers struggle with two things
– banding and difficult paper feeding. They waste a
lot of ink with cleaning cycles to try and cure banding –
not always successfully. The simple wiping action of the printer
mechanics can fail to shift built up ink deposits, especially
if the machine has been idle for some time, or if the type
of ink being used is changed. They sometimes also scatter
a lot of inks around inside the machine. Many suffers from
banding fail to realise the critical importance of the roller
feed system. After each pass of the print head, the paper
is fed forward a PRECISE amount. If the roller surface should
slip even slightly on the paper, its feed distance is slightly
shortened giving a marginal overlap with the previous head
pass. The double ink layer here causes a banding effect. Many
inkjet papers have a coating to receive the ink which deposits
over time a slippery layer on the print rollers. Sometimes
the effect of this is obvious with paper refusing or being
difficult to feed into the machine. Sometimes the effect is
less obvious with very slight banding taking the edge off
print performance. Clenstech© provides a duo-pack of
two specially developed cleaners. One is for the head, one
for the rollers. Both have unique additives to help prevent
future build-up problems. Simple, but very effective. Full
instructions for use. £12 inc. p&p UK (Europe £13,
USA/Canada £14, Rest of World £15).
